USBIKECO Staff members Michael Sved and Joe Morelli competed in the Wolfpack Hustle in Los Angeles, CA on March 17th, 2013. The Race started at 4:30am which required the two to leave for the race about two hours before that. Not sure what to expect, Sved and Morelli were taken back at the site of more than 2000 cyclist lined up for the race. Since this was their first time at the event, the two decided to keep towards the back for the race start to not get caught up in the crowd. After the start was officially called, Sved and Morelli had to wait more than five minutes for the crowd to disburse enough to start riding. Once out on the course, the two took turns drafting behind each other and passed hundreds of riders. They had to slow near the scene of an accident where a motorist had driven past the barricades causing several cyclist to collide into the car. By the end of the course, Sved and Morelli finished about mid way through the group which is pretty good considering that they started in the very back. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the Wolfpack Hustle, it’s a race that follows the course of the L.A. Marthon and isn’t necessarily organized or sponsored by any companies. It has grown from it’s original small group of cyclist to now more than 2000 registered cyclist, with even more that just show up.
